First go at making 1/12th figures
« on: November 09, 2009, 04:00:12 AM »
When I was still into Fantasy Wargaming I would sometimes make my own figures from scratch, but I hadn't tried sculpting a 6 inch tall figure before.  I decided to start with a basic sawmilling company labourer because I thought the clothing would be fairly simple to sculpt.

I forgot to warn the lads though and poor Harry got a nasty fright.

'Bill, Bill! - whose this big chap who ain't gotta face? - he's looking at me funny.'

Face and hands still to do.  I thought I'd do the clothing first to get used to working with polymer clay.

Isn't Halloween over? Looks like he got a bit too close to the saw.  8) No wonder Bill and Sidney were a bit nervous.

Looks like a great start- can't wait to see progress on this one.  Your talents never cease to amaze me.

It's tinfoil gentlemen   ??? - I used it to make the armature to build the body on.

You should've seen the reaction when Bill replied without looking back over his shoulder, 'Well give him a hand then.'

Annie, I like this first 'cut'.....

My attempt at a similar figure failed so miserably, that the poor creature was quickly put out of his/her misery............

I've still got the sculpy stuff (Jovi Modelling Paste) sealed, and workable in a bag, even after a few years....about a scale ton of it!!

 :D
I cut it twice and it's still too short.

Wargaming and Model Rail Roads do tend to go hand-in-hand doesn't it? When I not thinking of one I'm thinking of the other...
