Rowan,

You hide your procrastination very well by my point of view. From what you have shown to this distinguish group is anything other than procrastination! Then again you might work under the motto, "Procrastination will be put off until tomorrow."

For designing flat pack trains, maybe you need to enlist the furniture designers from Ikea  ;D

Procrastination? That reminds me, I still need to join Procrastinator's Anonymous, maybe I'll join tomorrow :D

G'day Annie

I'm just so amazed at the concept of a fold down 'flat pack' travelling railway.  Making good models can be tricky enough, but making good models that fold up as well must take a lot of planning.

Hi all,

The tall, small..... etc has progressed a bit...

It's come out a bit red and Xmassy, and sleighish - must be the Xmas influence. It could well change, especially the rear part.

Yeah ROwan looking at the new pictures made me exclaim "Santa's Locomotive!" It could be how he delivers coal to the bad kids, and would explain why as a child I would hear the train whistles so clearly.

Looking really nice, I don't think you should change a thing. Looks a bit Dr Seuss to me. :D

I have almost completed the loco/estate break/sleigh/whatever... It has been named 'Suess', guess after whom?, and at whom's suggestion...

Green satin seats have been added... and a canvas style folding roof...

Coal (the good Blair Athol stuff from Queensland, Australia) is the propellant, water requirements are limited - hence only a small barrel of it is needed.

Next step is to disassemble and see if the sum of the parts are not greater than the whole.

Love the folding roof...bit like the Binnie/Emett thing I sent you...looks super

the coal scuttle reminds me that early lines had a brazier.bucket of hot coals at the rear of the train before red lamps were invented!

Is it going to have a cat in the Hat??

Hi Rowan,
You asked.....
at 4.5"
http://www.collectorsgateway.com/Cat-in-the-Hat-Small-Bobble-Head-_p_2461.html

and a standing bobbler (no height given)
http://www.toytokyo.com/shopping/index.php/page/product/product_id/63

at 7"
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000277AS6?&tag=shopwiki-us-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325

Would a Grinch do instead?
How about this one at 12" tall
http://newyork.craigslist.org/fct/tag/1495778677.html
or perhaps a smaller one
http://www.shopwiki.com/_Dr.+Seuss+Clip-On+Plush%2C+CHARACTER+The+Grinch?o=1031164262&s=3885&

Have I earned my detective badge yet???

I think what Rowan meant was he was looking for a Cat in the Hat he could get at the dollar store (i.e. cheap).
