Although on further reflection...would a satellite dish look out of place on a 1910 era layout? ;)

Not at all.  And here's one way to install it.

Looks like a mermaid from a Wagner opera.
Conservatives think every day is July 4th; liberals think every day is April 15th.

Yea she is a portly girl. I thought mermaids were sleek creatures that moved through the water gracefully and swiftly :o

Oh yes.  She was the last singer, wasn't she?

Please send pictures from your local mermaids. To me, larger mermaids make perfect sense. Whales are not skinny neither. They have to survive in cold water.

I like the idea of Wagneresque mermaids. It´s probably because of the life guard.
So, meet the Rhinegold Sisters.........

Actually, according to TV tropes, the appearence of the mermaid varies from media to media. Some look pretty like Ariel, others look ugly like those Fiji mermaids. Infact, there are even some reverse mermaids. Someday when i can afford, I'm gonna have some person do custom mermaid action figures for my layout.

The Wikepedia Mermaids looks quite convincing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mermaid
Mainly those fom Corney Island.

The Disney Studios introduced a cartoonish looking Mermaid last century with the French sounding name "Arielle".  But I suppose, I stick to my Wagner-Mermaids

They even like to travel via Gn15 trains.

Actually, her name is "Ariel" which is Hebrew for "Lion of God" and is also the name of an archangel in Judaism. Ariel is used in the Old Testamant to refer to Jerusalem. Although interesting, none of this has anything to do with mermaids.

Has anyone seen the Golden Films version? The mermaid in this one is called Lena.

Here is the cover:http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51SB81JG51L.jpg

Why not get some Sculpey clay and try making some yourself?  Get a set of basic colors and let your imagination go.  You might think, "I could never do that," but you'll probably do better than you think you can.  There are plenty of online tutorials if you need help.  It's fun and you'll have made something special that no one else has.  :D

A. A reverse mermaid has a fish half with legs.

B. Like I said before. Accuracy is not my forte. And when it comes to action figures, plastic is my friend. I would like to try, but i just don't have the guts.

Being as they are mythical creatures how "accurate" can you hope to be? ???

So model the fish part and the humanesque torso and don't put guts inside. ;)

Actually the more you try and fail the better you get by learning what mistakes not to make. Its how most of us have learned our best lessons in life   ;D

You may have a point. Surley I could do it accuratly. Long ago, I traces steam locomotives by tracing paper. But my projects in art class suggest otherwise.

Our family coat of arms has a mermaid in it - no idea why?   ???
