I had never thought of creating a pizza layout, but they look like a lot of fun. I think I might have to give it a try. Thanks for all the great ideas.

Updates to the Personal Pan Pizza

I want to finish this one up so heres the layout to date:

The last picture is the true color, some reason the camera color shifts with the flash.

The bridge is now over a small wash and I'm going to do a small town/mine at the top, just something fun.

Added ball bearing wheels to the caboose, they work so good on this kind of track now I have to replace all the other shorty car with BBs. Guess I can always sell the metal wheels to subsidize the task.

Foam core with wood overlay, Precision Products doors/windows, Paper Creek roof paper

Next a small (very small) hotel/bar.

Once again great work. I have to try that small radius.

Vitto,
Great work.
What is the radius/diameter of the track?
Did you bend that yourself? I bought a 29" circle a while ago, and run my Suess train.
I may have to break out the rail bender and try a smaller circle.
Looking forward to the additional building/s.
Cheers
 :D

Thks Vitto, I've remeasured mine, and it is actually 31" inside track to inside track.

I cut it twice and it's still too short.

The track is from Aristo, they did 2 ultra small radius, one 31" D and this one 21" D both 4 sections each, they were still available, I think Wholesaletrains.com still has them listed.

Personal Pizza is served:

Overall

Town

backside of town

Close ups:

I got tired of how hard it is trying to focus on the layout while competing with all the background junk in the garage so I matted out the mess.

Hopefully I'll be able to bring this to the next show.

Vitto,
Great layout.
Great pics.
Thanks for sharing.
I really like the burro - looks like he/she does not really want to be way up the top there !!

That looks fun... nice work.  I wish some the Model Railroader magazines would run a section for such works of art. It seams if you don't have 75' x50' basement w/ miles of tracks to clean... you shouldn't be in the hobby... I disagree.

Vitto... your work rates right up there w/ them. The mag did have a tagline of "Model Railroading is fun" I notice it's not used anymore, that's a shame. Vitto what you do is fun and what a great hobby.

They don't think it's supposed to be fun.  We're supposed to run our layouts like a business with rules and schedules.   :(  I have enough rules and paperwork at work, I don't need them in my hobby, too.

Sorry for the rant.  :-X  That's a very nice layout, Vitto.  I like how you used different levels and the switchback road to the top.  Well done!  :D

Yep, "Model Railroader" magazine used to have the sub title "Model railroading is fun" They dropped that some years back. Gee, someone ought to start a webzine or site that is committed to having fun with one's model trains!

B2,
I agree with the negative sentiments re MR mag. I stopped subscribing about 6 years ago, when all I seemed to be reading about was product, product, product. eg If you want to model a station and platform, buy this product, and that product etc ad nauseum.
Even the one web model mag I see in my eMails is full of ads, and a lot of repeated tips.....

I agree that someone should start up a forum about 'fun  trains. !! Hang on, I've seen one of them around here somewheres !!

Cheers

Thanks guys, it was fun to build. I've considered sending it and the larger Pizza to GR but have concerns it might actually end up in MR and then have to watch the same scale obsessed forum types thats went into full metal meltdown when Malcomn Furlows layout was published in '03 go off on it. I agree this is supposed to be fun, the day its no longer bringing a smile is the day I pick up a fishing pole and head for the hills.
