Davenport Bash
« on: May 14, 2010, 11:58:52 PM »
Hi all,
Sorry to mention scale.. However, I had the opportunity to purchase a Davenport Gas Mechanical from our mate Ferd a while ago, and have finally had a bash at bashing it.
Wanted to try a 7/8ths thing, so removed the cab of the Bachmann, crafted a card bulkhead etc. Then needed some rolling stock....

Have made a combined stock-car/guards van from bass-wood, card and a sushi maker (for the roof).

Pictures show the still incomplete items, with a 'G scale' figure for comparison purposes.

Also under construction are a gon car, a passenger car and an open passenger car.

A roof may be put on the loco (to keep the snow off during those inclement winters in Oz, CJ).

(I hesitate to load these pix up on the SE Forum - my efforts pale when compared to the excellent work displayed on that forum.. but obviously Ferd checks up on us around here. Thanks Ferd for the opportunity to buy this loco... )

Cheers
 :D

Progress. Lick of paint, oh and some couplers, and we're done.

Looks great. Funny how even in 7/8 scale the headlamp on the Davenport still looks too big.

Thanks Bill, I commented that the headlight looked too big on another site and was berated, belittled and put down. I am glad I am not the only person on the planet that thinks it looks too large.

Have now completed the 'train' apart from some light weathering.

I like the cars Rowan. Nice work. Are you going to be creating cars for the Cat in the Hat engine?

Thks Rick... I was hoping to build some Suess cars....... I need to get a copy of the book (Green Eggs and Ham) as I think there is a picture of a train and cars in there.

Here are a few suggestions for further detailing of the Davenport

I think, there was a master at work at a Gn15 loco.

Have Fun
