Have a look and admire:

The colour scheme was very much influenced by Thoma A. Yorkes design:

Looks great. One minor nit-pick though- it's a British bus.  Not too many of those in the southwestern US.

What makes you think, Rosita´s is parked in the US?  Aren´t the folks in Downunder or in Malta driving on the right side of the road as well?
Maybe it is one of those broken down Hippie busses, you find in Spanish or African deserts. Or even in India. Is it a Bedford bus?

Dr Pepper in India? Root Beer Floats in Spain? Frosty Malts in Africa? These are definitely American "foods". Doesn't matter, though. I still admire the work that went into creating the diorama. And yes, it appears to be a Bedford bus. Like this one:

A British bus can be in the US, although not as common as an American bus. I have seen British cars around here (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) all my life. On the Southside I see a London double decker bus running tours every time I go down there. The bus is an older style, quite quaint.

Thanks for sharing, quite inspirational.

Well, I´ ve seen Dr.Pepper and Root Beer in Timbuktu (Mali) 2o years ago.  Dr. Pepper was served in Goa / India.

So if Rosita´s Diner is not in the US, it is probably parked outside an US Base in Afghanistan or somewhere in Iraque.  They fly everything in, even Mineral Water and Ice Cubes.

When I first travelled into the third world (20+ years ago), I noticed three American products that one could always find: Coca Cola, Marlboros, and Tabasco Sauce. Root Beer and Dr. Pepper were very hard to find. India, with its closed (at the time) markets had none of these; it was Campa Cola and Gold Flake Kings. I do remember seeing Root Beer on the menu at an Indonesian restaurant (which was no guarantee they actually had it), but it was listed with the other beers, so they apparently didn't really know what root beer was.

The presence of US GIs does alter the dynamic, though. I remember a little restaurant in South Korea that was quite "American" in its offerings - except of course for the staff and the frequent kitchen fires. I think we can lay this discussion to rest by agreeing Rosita's is indeed located in Iraq outside a US Army base. Now all I have to worry about is the Tydol can and the Michigan license plates which I guess were provided by GIs.

Viel Spass.

The bus looks like  it belongs in Texas or New Mexico especially with the red hot peppers, as far as it being a non US built bus that explains why it no longer runs as parts are next to impossible to source.
Great diorama and I love the feel of the whole scene.

Actually, the reason it no longer runs is the fact that it is British and likely has a Lucas (a.k.a. the prince of darkness) electrical system.

THe British car that my wife drives was actually a FORD product in the mid 90s, so it probably has Philco electrics. It's proven reliable for a good many years now. The Lucas parts jar of replacement smoke is brilliant! I did drive a TR-4 for a brief time before joining the US Navy. Then it was sold and on to German Iron - a 69 VW.

Hi all,
and Bruce.... you have not mentioned that your wife's car also apparently comes with a special bottle of petrol FUMES that only you can add to whatever system is operating be-it Ford or be-it Jaguar.

Cheers

Rowan,

The car must have the spirit pf a POM and had discovered the nationality of our passengers. We've yet to duplicate the phenomenon.
